What are the benefits of using an end cap trim?

What are the benefits of using an end cap trim?

Fitting wall panels with awkward shaped walls can be troublesome. Using an end cap trim gives you the option to finish any open-ended edge to your cladding. Say you are half-cladding your bathroom, or you need to tidy up any rough cuts around a door or window frame, the end cap trim gives you the option to create a decorative finish to those edges.

They also help provide a watertight finish in wet wall areas by running a clear bead of silicone sealant into the join before sliding your panel into place.

Another advantage of using an end cap trim is that it allows you a bit more freedom when it comes to cutting and shaping your panels. You panel cuts do not have to be perfect. Allowing even the most novice of DIY fitters to get a professional finish.

Any open ends of your cladding where you can see the cut edge will need to be finished with an end cap to provide a decorative finish.

They are also perfect for tidying up any rough edges that meet door frames or any other surfaces.

What size end cap trim do I need?

What size end cap trim do I need?

End cap trims are available in 3 different depths –10mm, 8mm and 5mm. This should match the depth of the wall panel you intend to fit onto your walls.

Ensure the correct sized trim is fitted to assure a sufficient waterproof seal.

The panel should fit tightly into the end cap trim. Too small and the wall panel won’t fit into the trim. Too big and the wall panel will leave gaps. The correct size end cap trim should be a snug fit.

PROPANEL® XL

Often referred to as shower wall panels, PROPANEL® XL 1m and 1.2m wide panels come in a height 2.4m. The matching trim length size for these panels is 2400mm with a 10mm depth.

PROPANEL® LUUX

The PROPANEL® LUUX is a 600mm wide panel which comes in a longer height option for those with higher rooms. With a height of 2.7m the matching trim length is 2700mm with a 10mm depth.

How do I know which size thickness of panel I have?

How do I know which size thickness of panel I have?

Below is a quick description of the panels to help you choose the correct size:

10mm end cap trim

Specifically designed for 10mm thick panels, often referred to as shower wall panels the PROPANEL® XL and PROPANEL® LUUX panels are stronger 10mm thick panels. These require the more rigid 10mm end cap trim for fitting.

8mm end cap trim

Standard decorative cladding tends to come in 8mm thickness. To correctly fit you will need to match the panel with 8mm end cap trim.

5mm end cap trim

Thinner trade value cladding panels come in 5mm thickness. These are the thinnest and most cost-effective decorative panels available. They require smaller 5mm end cap trims to fit correctly. Any other size will be too big making it loose for the fitting. This will compromise your finished waterproof seal resulting in a possible leakage.
