Coving Trim

A coving trim is designed to sit on the joint between your wall and ceiling edges and has a single slot on one side for inserting your cladding panel into. Resulting in a tidy decorative finish.

Fitting wall panels with awkward shaped walls can be troublesome. Using a Coving trim gives tolerance to the cuts of your wall panel and helps provide a professional consistent finish while concealing all signs of silicone sealant. This is especially helpful if your ceiling runs out.

They also help provide a watertight finish in wet wall areas by running a clear bead of silicone sealant into the join before sliding your panel into place.

Another advantage of using a Coving trim is that it relinquishes the need to cut each panel perfectly when your wall panel meets your ceiling. This allows you a bit more freedom when it comes to cutting and shaping your panel for internal use as it does not have to be perfect.

Any angle where your wall and ceiling panels meet edge to edge will need to be covered by trim.

Thinking about a simple square room it has 4 edges where your wall panels meet your ceiling. These are internal corners so you would need 4x coving trims to suit. If your room is a different shape you may need to adjust accordingly.

Coving trims are available in 2 different depths – 8mm and 5mm. This should match the depth of the wall panel you intend to fit onto your walls.

Ensure the correct sized trim is fitted to assure a sufficient waterproof seal.

The panel should fit tightly into the Coving trim. Too small and the wall panel won’t fit into the trim. Too big and the wall panel will leave gaps. The correct size Coving trim should be a snug fit.

There are 2 lengths of coving trim available, 2700mm & 4000mm.

2700mm length trims will suit most average sized bathroom suites.

A 4000mm length trim will suit any longer length bathrooms edges that exceed the average size.

8mm internal corner trim

Standard decorative cladding tends to come in 8mm thickness. To correctly fit you will need to match the panel with 8mm Coving trim.

5mm internal corner trim

Thinner trade value cladding panels come in 5mm thickness. These are the thinnest and most cost-effective decorative panels available. They require smaller 5mm Coving trims to fit correctly. Any other size will be too big making it loose for the fitting. This will compromise your finished waterproof seal resulting in a possible leakage.

When requesting a specific trim over the phone quote the corresponding SKU code to the internal corner trim you require.

As a coving trim would not normally sit directly within a wet area, it is not a requirement that the coving trim is sealed with silicone sealant. 

However, any area where a coving trim may come into direct contact with water would need to be sealed with silicone sealant.
